Cafe Hawelka is one of the traditional Viennese cafes that can be found throughout the city. It's nestled in the first district, just a stone throw away from Vienna's famous Stephansdom. It's been around since 1945, and I for one, really appreciate that they are maintaining the original, classic Viennese cafe ambiance.
It's perfect for tourists who really want to get a good impression of Vienna's coffee culture, or for anyone who just needs a small break from the day's shopping. Or if you're like me, it's a perfect place to stop off for a white wine after work al fresco.
But, with the weather getting colder and colder, you'll want to stay indoors and get cozy on one of the many couches and sip on some delicious, hot coffee, while reading a good newspaper.
So check it out, they are practically always open (another perk of the cafe)!
