Easy Homemade Fruit Compote

I've always liked cooking simple recipes. I especially like making easy recipes that seem fancier than they are or that can elevate other recipes. So naturally, compotes are my jam. Pun intended. You can put them on everything and it's instantly better. For example, pour some compote onto some ice cream and it turns into a sundae. I mean the word alone sounds fancier than saying fruit syrup

 

 

 

 

Take this recipe for delicious, fluffy pancakes and go just one step further and elevate it with this fruit compote and BAM! You've got a baller breakfast situation happening! 

 

 

 

 

Just give it a whirl! It's berry delicious and if you end up hating it, you only wasted 15 minutes of your life! 

 

Ingredients: 

2 cups frozen or fresh fruit (I used both) 

1/4 cup sugar or honey (I used 1/8 cup of both)

3 tbs water (or more depending on the consistency you want)

1/2 tsp cinnamon 

1 tbs of lemon juice 

 

 

Directions

Add all of your ingredients together in a sauce pan on medium-high heat.

Bring to a boil and muddle the bigger pieces of fruit. I personally like to leave it pretty chunky.

Reduce heat and let simmer for about 10-15  minutes or until it thickens. 

Then smother your pancakes in them! Or your waffles, or toast, or oatmeal, or cake or ice cream! 

 

 

 

That's the beauty of it.  You can use it for a bright, berry surprise on just about anything. Hot or cold, it's good to go!
